The Love Wall

What a joy it is to be a part of this amazing community of diverse people. We love Houston and this is our way of showing it. This simple message is about encouraging each other (and ourselves) to love one another, give sacrificially, and serve our community. That’s what the love wall is all about.

We’ve seen this amazing spirit over and over when natural disasters, economic hardships, and life struggles hit our friends and neighbors in Houston.

Love is an active verb and we see it happening. We see you embracing each other through hard times and celebrating together through our great victories. Love is more than a feeling. It’s a powerful desire to show care, affection, and support to those around you. Love encourages action. Be the love giver.

You see giving as YOUR privilege. Paying a friend’s way, buying a meal or groceries, helping with bills, donating to charities, churches and community outreach programs are just some of the small ways that you give. Decide never to lend money. If a friend is in need and you can afford it, give it. Never keep a record. Be a cheerful giver and enjoy seeing needs met around you. Give quietly and give sacrificially.

Service is a lifestyle. When neighbors need a hand you are there serving quietly. When friends or family can’t handle it all, you joyfully take up the slack. You sacrifice your time and energy to serve when the need arises. By volunteering at the hundreds of charities, churches and other organizations around town you are filling the need and holding up this community. We salute you for the hard work that pays off in changed lives. The love wall is also meant to be a thank you and tribute to the men and women in active service such as firemen, police, first responders, and military. Thank you for all that you do to take care of us.

The love wall shows qualities that we learned as the “fruit of the spirit” found in the book of Galatians 5:22-23. We hope that these words encourage you and inspire you to action: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Please enjoy the love wall and allow it to encourage your soul. Love your neighbor, give sacrificially, and serve each other - which you are already doing!

We love you, Houston!
